The Trust protected 64 ha of rainforest on the Atherton Tableland and adjacent to an existing nature refuge. The vegetation protected is regarded as an endangered regional ecosystem and is essential habitat for the endangered southern cassowary.

It also provides habitat for numerous rare and threatened plants and animals including Lumholtz's tree kangaroo, green ringtail possum, lemuroid ringtail possum and the Herbert River ringtail possum.
