Location: Approximately 25 kilometres south-east of Stanthorpe and 260 kilometres south-west of Brisbane. Stanthorpe (pop. ~10,000) is situated in the northern New England Tableland.

Infrastructure: A small cottage and two railway carriages converted to accommodation. The cottage is in need of repair. Water supply is from rain water tanks. Telephone connection is installed to the cottage. Power is connected to all buildings. There is a large steel frame shed with three phase power. A large earth dam (50 mg/l capacity) irrigates a stone fruit orchard and there are three other small dams.
Conservation values: The Sanctuary Nature Refuge adjoins Girraween National Park. This area is well known for its very high biodiversity values resulting from the plateau’s unique combination of altitude, geology and landforms.
The area is known habitat for rare and threatened species including, the spotted-tailed quoll and the common wombat as well as two vulnerable plant species Acacia latisepala and Dodonea hirsute.
Some of the significant natural and cultural values of the property include:
- Shrub land (heath) occurring on rock pavements on Mesozoic to Proterozoic igneous rocks, described as the of concern regional ecosystem 13.12.6;
- Eucalyptus campanulata open forest on igneous rocks, described as the not of concern regional ecosystem 13.12.1;
- Eucalyptus andrewsii, E. youmanii woodland on igneous rocks, described as the not of concern regional ecosystem 13.12.2; and
- The vulnerable spotted-tailed quoll (Dasyurus maculatus maculatus) and plant species Acacia latisepala and Dodonea hirsuta.
- The rare common wombat (Vombatus ursinus).
